Workmanship Warranty Terms and Conditions
Metallic Floors: 12-year warranty; Flake System: 5-year Warranty; Flat Colours: No Warranty
Standard epoxy curing times Foot traffic: 24 – 48 hours after completion. Light furniture/equipment: 3 days after completion. Vehicle traffic: 7 days after completion.
After installation, all foot traffic must be kept off the floor for at least 24 hours to allow it to reach sufficient initial hardness. The floor will continue to harden for up to seven days, so the longer you can keep traffic and loads off, the better. During the first seven days, do not allow any water, liquids or chemicals on the floor while it develops full resistance. In order to protect the floor finish, install floor protectors or felt underneath the legs of heavy furniture, chairs and appliances to avoid scuffing and scratching.
Protect floor against heat sources and burns from heat, flames, sparks, cigarettes, matches or any other extremely hot surfaces. Epoxy floors have great stain resistance. They are not affected by most household chemicals, however any spills should be cleaned up immediately and not be allowed to dry out on the floor. The longer the spill is left on the floor, the higher the risk of a stain occuring. Do not use any other cleaning products apart from pH neutral cleaning detergents. Wet/Dry microfibre flat dust mops are the most effective way to clean smooth epoxy floors.
General Ongoing Maintenance Smooth Floors Basic Good and Bad Practices There are some basic good practices that can be followed to help prolong the life and aesthetics of a smooth floor.
Good practices include: Sweep and mop floors on a regular basis. Regular cleaning will provide continued inspection to help detect and repair damage as soon as possible. Prepare a clean-up procedure to ensure exposure to spills is kept to a minimum. Smooth floors should be kept as dry as possible for the mainte- nance of the floor and safety of its users. When moving equipment or furniture be sure to lift and not drag these items to prevent scratching. Smooth floors are susceptible to scuffing so be careful with the traffic allowed on these surfaces.
Bad practices to avoid: Don’t use vacuum cleaners without brush attachment as they may scuff the surface. Don’t use steam cleaners or boiling water as this may soften the floor. It is generally not necessary to clean with water above 60oC. Don’t wear footwear with metal tips or nails underneath. If the floor is to handle vehicle traffic, avoid aggressively spinning the wheels, burnouts etc.
Anti Slip/ Textured Floors: Basic Good and Bad Practices There are some basic good practices that can be followed to help prolong the life and aesthetics of an anti-slip/textured floor.
Good practices include: Sweep or flush/hose floors on a regular basis. More aggressive anti-slip surfaces (P4-P5) won’t be able to be mopped. Anti-slip floors, in particular, rely on regular cleaning to remove foreign material that can accumulate and reduce effectiveness. Prepare a clean-up procedure to ensure exposure to spills is kept to a minimum. If the floor is exposed to aggressive industrial chemicals, an environmentally-friendly absorbent should be used to absorb the spill, followed by a chemical clean. When moving equipment or furniture, be sure to lift and not drag these items to prevent scratching.
Bad practices to avoid: Don’t use steam cleaners or boiling water as this may soften the epoxy floor. It is generally not necessary to clean with water above 60oC. Don’t wear footwear with metal tips or nails underneath. If the floor is to handle vehicle traffic, avoid aggressively spinning the wheels, burnouts etc. What Is Not Covered By This Warranty Flooring that is not installed or prepared to El Patron Resin. Consequential losses and any other costs are not covered by the warranty a second time.
Note – The services provided as part of the warranty do not extend the original warranty period. The warranty is not transferable and will apply to the first buyer only.
General Cleaning and Maintenance Guide While your flooring system is extremely durable it must be allowed to cure prior to walking or driving on it to prevent any damage.
Standard epoxy curing times Foot traffic: 24 – 48 hours after completion. Light furniture/equipment: 3 days after completion. Vehicle traffic: 7 days after completion.
Sweep or vacuum Sweeping your surface clean is an integral part of routine maintenance. Surface dirt and loose debris are unsightly and extremely abrasive. It should be removed effectively and regularly using a broom or vacuum. If you use a vacuum cleaner make sure it has a soft brush attachment. The normal hard plastic head on the vacuum could scratch your new floor over time. With outdoor areas you can simply hose it down or use a blower vac.
Cleaning Cleaning your surface is important to maintain its visual appeal and remove surface contaminants that can be very abrasive. Cleaning can be completed by using a microfibre mop, floor mop or hose and brush/broom. A pH neutral cleaner should be utilised in combination with water and the above agitation methods. Ensure you follow all listed directions on your chosen cleaning product. For textured surfaces, a stiff broom may be used. Do not use abrasive or corrosive cleaners as they can cause discolouration or damage to your surface. On high- gloss surfaces, try to avoid using hard-bristled brooms and brushes as these may scratch the surface of the coating.
Stains and Spills While your epoxy surface is resistant to staining and discolouration, all spills and other chemical contaminants should be cleaned from the surface as soon as reasonably possible. This will reduce the possibility of staining as prolonged or extended exposure to some chemicals may result in staining of your surface, especially those that are acidic or corrosive. Staining is only aesthetic and does not affect the mechanical properties of the surface.
High Gloss surfaces such as Metallic Marble, Plain Epoxy or Flake finishes are especially susceptible to scuffing and scratching due to their gloss appearance and the abrasiveness of floor grit and dirt. It is recommended that clean regularly in order to maintain the floor in its original high-end and high-gloss appearance. It is not recommended to move heavy furniture without mechanical assistance and felt furniture feet should be used on all furniture where it intends to be moveable, such as tables, chairs and stools. Follow these simple cleaning methods to ensure your epoxy floor stays looking new for many years to come.
High Gloss Surfaces Your new epoxy floor is hard-wearing, easy to clean and typically does not require any ongoing maintenance. However, In order to keep your surface looking new you should follow a regular cleaning regime. This will reduce ongoing wear and tear.
